This project involves the construction of a high-rise residential tower consisting of 3 basements, ground floor, 17 floors, and roof level, positioned in the fast-developing area of Wadi Al Safa 5, Dubai.
The development required a reliable deep foundation and shoring solution due to the multi-level basement structure and significant excavation volume involved.
HDFC was appointed as the Specialized Enabling Contractor, responsible for delivering the shoring, piling, and excavation support systems necessary for safe and stable construction of the building’s substructure.

Scope of Work

1️⃣ Secant Pile Shoring System – 220 Linear Meters

A 220 L.M. secant pile wall was installed around the excavation boundary to provide structural support and soil retention for the deep basement.
The secant wall ensured:

  • High lateral stability
  • Reduced groundwater ingress
  • Controlled soil movement
  • Safe excavation conditions

This system was selected due to the depth of the basements and surrounding construction constraints.

2️⃣ Working Piles – 200 Nos.

HDFC constructed 200 cast-in-situ working piles to support vertical loads and provide long-term structural stability for the superstructure.
These piles were designed to achieve the required load-bearing capacities while adapting to varying soil conditions across the site.


3️⃣ One Level of Bracing

To reinforce the secant pile wall, HDFC installed one complete level of steel bracing.
This bracing system minimized deflection during excavation and safeguarded adjacent structures, ensuring safe working conditions throughout the enabling works.

4️⃣ Deep Excavation – 40,000 m³

The project required a substantial 40,000 cubic meters of excavation.
HDFC successfully executed the multi-stage excavation while maintaining:

  • Full EHS compliance
  • Continuous monitoring of wall movements
  • Optimized excavation sequence for safety and efficiency
  • Controlled groundwater behavior due to the secant wall system
