This development consists of a high-rise residential/commercial tower with three basements, ground floor, twelve floors, and a roof level, located in the densely developed Al Jadaf district of Dubai.
Due to the significant basement depth and challenging soil conditions, the project required a robust and well-engineered foundation and shoring system.

HDFC was appointed as the Enabling Works Contractor to design and execute the deep excavation support system, including the secant pile wall, multiple layers of anchors and struts, and controlled excavation operations.

1️⃣Secant Pile Shoring System

HDFC constructed a secant pile wall system designed to retain soil and provide structural support during deep excavation.
The system was engineered to ensure:

  • High lateral stability
  • Controlled deflection
  • Improved groundwater resistance
  • Safe excavation to 16.0 m depth

This secant wall formed the primary boundary of the deep excavation area.

2️⃣ Two Layers of Steel Struts

To reinforce the retaining system, HDFC installed two levels of heavy-duty steel struts, strategically positioned to resist soil pressure and maintain stability throughout excavation.
These struts were designed to support the secant wall at critical stages and prevent deformation.


3️⃣ Three Layers of Ground Anchors

The project required three layers of pre-stressed ground anchors to further stabilize the excavation boundary.
These anchors enhanced the performance of the shoring system by providing:

  • Additional lateral restraint
  • Reduced wall movement
  • Improved overall excavation safety

Each anchor was tested and tensioned according to strict quality control procedures.

4️⃣ Excavation — 16.0 m Depth & 24,000 m³ Volume

HDFC executed the deep excavation, reaching a final depth of 16.0 meters and removing approximately 24,000 cubic meters of soil.
The excavation was carried out in controlled stages, based on engineering analysis and safety protocols.

Key considerations included:

    • Real-time wall deflection monitoring
    • De-watering coordination
    • Controlled excavation sequencing
    • EHS compliance to ensure zero incidents

Detailed ITPs, QA/QC reports, and method statements were submitted throughout the project.
