High Deep Foundation Contracting L.L.C. was appointed as the Shoring Contractor for the Burj Capital Commercial Building, a landmark high-rise development comprising 5 basements, ground floor, 3 podium levels, 25 office floors, a service floor, roof, and top-of-roof structures, located in the prime Business Bay district of Dubai.

The project required a highly robust and engineered excavation support system to facilitate deep excavation works within a dense urban environment, while ensuring stability, safety, and minimal ground movement.

HDFC executed the complete diaphragm wall shoring system, designed to retain excavation up to a depth of 23 meters. The system consisted of reinforced concrete diaphragm walls with multi-level internal strutting to counteract lateral earth and groundwater pressures.

1️⃣ Shoring Works

  • Construction of 287 linear meters of diaphragm wall, with a wall thickness of 800 mm, forming a continuous and stiff retaining system around the excavation perimeter.
  • Installation of three layers of steel struts, designed and executed to provide staged lateral support during progressive excavation phases.
  • The diaphragm wall system was engineered to control wall deflection, protect adjacent properties, and ensure excavation stability throughout all construction stages.

2️⃣ Internal Shoring Works

  • Excavation carried out in a controlled and sequenced manner following completion of diaphragm wall and strutting installation.
  • Maximum excavation depth achieved: 23.0 meters.
  • Total excavation quantity handled was approximately 135,000 cubic meters, executed in compliance with approved method statements and safety requirements.

3️⃣ Engineering, Safety & Quality Compliance

  • All works were executed in accordance with consultant-approved designs, project specifications, and international engineering standards.
  • Continuous monitoring of excavation and shoring performance was carried out to ensure structural integrity and safety.
  • Strict HSE, QA/QC, and documentation procedures were implemented throughout the project lifecycle.
